What happens to your residence permit
You must do this if…
- You have a residence permit that requires you to have a job. For example, a work visa or a Blue Card.
You don’t need to do this if…
- You have German permanent residence
- or you are a EU or EEA citizen.

How to send this letter
In Berlin, use the Ausländerbehörde’s contact form. Send the letter to the department who is responsible for you. Include a copy of your resignation letter, your termination notice, and your new work contract.
