What is the Maklergebühr or Provision?

When you hire an agent (Makler) to find an apartment, you pay a commission (Provision or Maklergebühr). If you did not hire the agent, you should not pay a commission.2

If an apartment seeker hires a Makler, the maximum commission is 2 times the cold rent, plus VAT.1
